«STUDENT_ATHLETE» («SID»), is a member of the Charlotte Women’s Basketball team and your ____________________ course.  This student will miss a limited number of classes due to participation with the athletic program.  Below is an itinerary of their team travel.  Team members are expected to be in all classes except during these times.  The absences are due to University recognized events and therefore we request that this student be allowed a reasonable opportunity to make up any missed work without penalty.

The Charlotte 49ers Athletic Academic Center (AAC) monitors all student-athletes' progress throughout their academic careers.  Our mission is to identify and provide additional academic and social support to all Charlotte student-athletes in order to assist them in graduating with a degree in four years.  To achieve this goal the office provides, among other services, academic advising, grade monitoring, and tutorial assistance.  The University is held responsible for the academic success of these highly visible student-athletes and in order to exercise institutional control, we need your help and cooperation.  Conversely, we also like to know when our student-athletes are excelling in the classroom.  One of our goals is to have more of our student-athletes receive academic recognition.

2006-2007 was the best academic year in Niner history and the Fall 2007 semester continued that trend.  The Fall 2007 departmental cumulative GPA was 3.048.  A record 167 student-athletes had a 3.0 or higher semester GPA for Fall 2007.   It also marks the 23rd semester our student-athlete cumulative GPA was higher than that of the university overall.   We appreciate your support in helping our student-athletes achieve this success.

If you have any problems or concerns regarding this or any student-athlete, please feel free to call our offices.  Also, we welcome you to use our website at http://aac.uncc.edu to send us grade reports and find out more about our center.
